SHU Equestrian Raise £1,400 for Local Charities

Our Team Hallam Equestrian Club successfully completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Callenge this weekend as part of their efforts to raise money for Millhouse Farm Animal Sanctuary, Sheffield MIND and the Danny Porter Foundation.

At the start of the year the club set themselves a target of giving back to the community and showing that they could make a big difference through volunteering and raising money. They chose charities close to their hearts and their communities hearts.

The club started volunteering at least once a week at the Millhouse Farm Animal Sanctuary, with some club members volunteering up to two or three times a week. The farm became a place close to the hearts of the club as they realised it was in great need of help. Club members decide to invest even more time in helping out by putting on a Pony Day where they cleaned up all the 15 horses, mucked them out, exercised them and also cleaned up the other animals on the farm (pigs, sheep, cows and dogs)  to help take photos of them to speed up the adoption process.

Following on from all their volunteering the club decided to make the Millhouse Farm Animal Sanctuary one of their chosen charities for the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge, alongside Sheffield MIND and the Danny Porter Foundation. Despite the challenge being physically and mentally tough for everyone involved, the club powered through with a fantastic team spirit and completed the 27 mile walk in 11 hours and 40 minutes.

The club have raised a combined total of £1,400 so far, which they are sharing between their three chosen charities. Their fundraising page is still open for donations and any additional money would be recieved gratefully: https://www.gofundme.com/hallam-equestrian-yorkshire-3-peak
