The Men's Football Club is a hugely popular club at Sheffield Hallam, with 4 competing in BUCS leagues. The level of play is competitive and the teams are selected through trials held at the start of the year. The club runs in partnership with Sheffield FC, the oldest football club in the world, giving players access to high quality coaching and facilities, and opportunities to play locally. Weekly training sessions are run at Sports Park on Bawtry Road on Monday evenings, and matches are typically on a Wednesday afternoon.
For developing players and people who want to play recreationally, there are opportunities to enter weekly 11-a-side and 6-a-side Intramural Leagues, which are run on weekday evenings at Collegiate Campus astro-turf and Wednesday afternoons at Sports Park on Bawtry Road. Regular social sport sessions are also run both indoors and outdoors for people who just want a kick-about.
Come have a kick around in a non-stressful, fun environment. There's no work for you to sort players to make up teams. No need to bring anyone with you, simply turn up and let our Student Sport Activators match you into equal teams. These sessions are focused on giving you as much playing time as possible, usually in small sided games. These sessions are perfect for all abilities and give you a great opportunity to get more pitch time. Some of our attendees have gone on to play as a group in the intramural leagues so it really is a fun environment to be part of.
Sessions are £2.50 or free if you have a SHU-Active or Team Hallam membership. Just turn up on the day, or you can book in advance with our online booking system, or at SHU-Active reception. See our social sport timetable to find a session. For any questions email us.
Gather a few friends, neighbours, colleagues or course mates together and submit a league application form at Hallam Active reception. There is a league registration fee and also a match fee.
No need to sign up in advance, simply drop in to one of the Social Sport sessions for £2.50 a time, all equipment is provided.
