Hallam Badminton is a mixed gender club with 3 Men's Teams and 1 Women's Team regularly competing in BUCS leagues, local leagues and tournaments. Teams are selected through trials in September, and the level of play is competitive. There will be trial opportunities in January/ February for students joining in the second semester and trials can be accomodated for players who miss both trials by contacting committee. Regular social sport sessions are also run for developing players and those who want to play in a less competitive environment.
We want to welcome everyone of any ability to join and find the right place for them to play, develop and meet new friendly faces!
Come and play badminton in a fun and relaxed setting. No need to bring anyone with you, as our Student Sport Activator will introduce you to participants and rotate you on and off court. Mostly you will be playing doubles games (singles when it’s quieter and if you want to). If you don’t know the rules or want to learn how to improve your performance, instruction can be provided upon request. All equipment is provided, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer. Playing abilities varies from complete beginners to club players, where possible you will be grouped with players similar to your own ability and sessions can be adapted to suit a variety of needs.

Each team consists of at least 6 players but we need more than this to accommodate for sickness or unavailability during matches. These teams have varying levels and compete in different leagues in BUCS and local leagues. Our BUCs teams play on a Wednesday afternoon and our teams competing in local leagues play home matches on a Sunday Night.
To register your interest please attend sports fair in September to attend trials. Teams will be selected before November to allow us to register players for the league.
