The Rowing Club is a popular and growing club at Hallam, with opportunities for all abilities, from complete beginners to advanced rowers, and welcome both social and competitive members. The training programme is varied to cater for all individuals, and includes fitness, strength and conditioning and erg based training at Collegiate gym, as well as training out on the water at Dam Flask. Crews for novice and senior squads for race boats are selected early on in the year to allow time for squads to bond and train together.
The club recently benefitted from £10K of Sport England funding to invest in new boats to get more students rowing at Hallam.
The club go on a number of residential trips throughout the year, to compete in BUCS events including the Regatta, BUCS 4's and BUCS 8's Head, as well as some residential training camps.
Regular Row Fit sessions are run throughout the year at Collegiate gymnasium, to give beginners opportunities to get to grips with the basics of indoor rowing on ergs, as wells as providing general fitness training for all abilities. Opportunities available for students to develop coaching skills through leading the sessions as a Student Sport Activator volunteer. (link to social sport timetable)
