What's on offer?

Sailing

Hallam Sailing Team is open to all abilities, whether you’ve never set foot on a boat before or are have competed at nationals, Hallam Sailing welcomes everyone.

We normally train on Sundays each week at Winscar Reservoir in the heart of the Peak District. Sharing a clubhouse with Pennine Sailing Club and the University of Sheffield. 

For novices, we offer informal sail training every week and run official RYA courses so you can gain real industry standard qualifications. Lots of our team racing squad join as beginners.

Students who can already sail are encouraged to join our team racing squad. They train for the BUSA team racing events we attend throughout the north.

We also have the ability to offer advance race training for our squad if they would like.

We all sail together and the programme is flexible to suit what our members would like to do.

Social Sailing

Most of our members enjoy social sailing and we do too! Having an instructor with us we can run fun casual sessions with something different each week. Make sure to bring your pirate hat!

Yacht Sailing

In summer 2024 we hope to charter a yacht and go sailing around the med! More information on this will be posted closer to the time on our Facebook.

We will be offering the opportunity to take part in some sail training aboard a working yacht. This gives students the chance to go from zero yacht experience to being able to sail on the open seas! More information will be posted on Facebook.

Windsurfing

We also offer windsurfing, with beginner and advanced kits available. Lessons can be provided if needed.

There is the opportunity to attend SWA events throughout the year where we can meet other windsurfing societies and even race against them.

Socials

We run different social opportunities twice a week, every week, ranging from living it large as pirates on West Street to ice skating at Ice Sheffield we do nights out and non-alcoholic socials all the time.

If you have an idea, we can make it happen!

We will begin to fill the Facebook calendar closer to the start of term so keep an eye out.

The club doesn’t run trials, we run taster sessions periodically through the year and encourage anyone who wants to have a go-to drop us a message and we can sort something out at any point!

Membership for this year is £100 for a full year membership and £60 for a half year membership.

Membership just for windsurfing is £55
