Starting my first year at Hallam I always wanted to start a new sport which was out of comfort zone. After choosing Rowing, I feel in love with the sport and my competitive side came out. As you all know rowing is sport that requires dedication, organisation and metal strength to stay determined to stick to the sport. I feel that this year for rowing hasn’t been the best due to weather which has resulted in lack of training and no racing. I want my rowing experience to conclude next year as a member of the committee and I feel my rowing journey will develop through this. It might be a worry to some that I haven’t being rowing for that long, but I feel like I can prove myself but creating a successful men’s team for Hallam. The men’s team this year hasn’t being the best due to the lack of members, but I feel I can prove myself as a new rower by my determination to learn and always try my best to be the best caption to the men team to new and old members.
My Aims if I was elected for Men’s Captain:
- Promote the club at the fresher’s fair to get as many new members to join the team to build Hallam rowing to become a lager team.
- I would put my experience and knowledge I had gained from a novice’s rower towards helping new novices confident in tackling the sport.
- Strong teamwork starts with good organisation skills I would there set goals for the team in training by making sure at least 3 water session a week to help novices and seniors both improve in the best possible.
- I want to create a clear and organised training plan which is attended by all rowers so that we have a competitive team which is always wanting to improve and work the best to improve strength and fitness physically.
- Increase the awareness on social media, so that all other Hallam teams can see how successful we are doing, and this is to make us more recognisable.
- Enter a varied spread of competitions throughout the year, both large and small events in order to gain more racing experience which will ultimately improve technique and confidence amongst the team.
- I want all members too enjoy and be proud of being part of the team with a drive to improve at ergs, S&C and all land-based training and support each other throughout their rowing journey.
I believe everyone has potential and I hope you all vote for me!
