ELLIE CUNNINGHAM

Hi, my name is Ellie and I am the current vice captain of 7’s. Having not played netball since school, I came to university thinking I wouldn’t make it into any competitive team because I was out of practice and knew that the competition between the girls was fierce. 6 months down the line and I’m not only part of a fabulous team who support one another in weekly sessions and games but in university life as a whole, with me meeting life long friends. I’m so thankful for this opportunity and grateful for the hard work of the current committee. They have inspired me to run in the upcoming season for secretary.

As current secretary of an award winning academic society, I have the experience of writing and organising meeting notes, completing risk assessments forms, discussing the needs of the chairs and supporting them in any way necessary, such as organising events and attending open days. As someone who is studying business, this role will advance my fundamental management and people skills and increase my network.

As a current member of development, I have a strong association with the South Yorkshire affiliation and can be relied upon to effectively communicate across BUCS and Development alike. I also have the necessary communication skills  to organise friendlies and fitness sessions as well as share information to teams across social media and word of mouth. Persistency, time management and determination will be key attributes I will bring to the role.

Having discussed my candidacy with the current secretary, Briana, I have a greater appreciation for the role and understand the key elements required of me to undertake the role successfully. Being the voice of my fellow teammates and be involved in the running of the club is something I aspire to. I appreciate organising attendance and affiliations of over 300 girls is not going to be an easy feast but I am excited to take on the challenge and step up from vice to committee sec.

I look forward to celebrating the success of team Hallam next year and getting the chance to give back to a fabulous club!

I hope you consider me for your 2022/23 Secretary vote and many thanks for reading :)
