Hallam Wheelchair Basketball Team Hallam Wheelchair Basketball Champions

Huge congratulations to Hallam Wheelchair Basketball, for  winning the title at the British Wheelchair Basketball University Championships.

Hallam qualified to the finals, after finishing top of their league, undefeated, against University of Nottingham, Nottingham Trent University and the University of Worcester.

The finals were held at the Vue Belle Areana in Manchester on 10th March, where 9 of our players played against Nottingham Trent University, University of East London and Brunel University. Again. Hallam prooved too strong to beat, winning every game and claiming the title of University Champions

The victory is a huge boost for the sport at Sheffield Hallam, which has run weekly social sessions in the Pearson Building for 6 years. Being a student-led activity, the sessions have gained momentum in recent years, seeing an increase of participation by over 50%. The University are soon to receive 12 new sports wheelchairs from a recent Sport England bid to further develop the sport at Hallam. In the future, the students aim to establish a formal wheelchair basketball club at the Unviersity, to provide more opportunities for students to take part, excel and hopefully retain the title in 2019.

Many thanks to everyone involved in all the fixutres and help lead the team to victory:
