The Women's Basketball Club has 1 team playing in BUCS and local leagues. This offers great opportunities to play basketball at a competitive level while being exposed to the highest quality of coaching. The team is selected through trials held at the start of the year. The club runs in partnership with Sheffield Hatters Women's Basketball Club, meaning Women's Hallam Basketball have relations with coaches such as Vanessa Ellis who has coached the GB women's team to a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games.
Weekly training sessions, strength and conditions, BUCS games:
Training sessions for the 1st team are run at the EIS facility on Monday 6:00-8:00 pm and matches are typically on a Wednesday afternoon.
Come and experience basketball in a women-only session. Sessions will involve learning key basketball skills and incorporating these into fun and competitive game-like situations. Our Student Sport Activators will offer endless support and guidance if you are new to basketball and aim to answer any queries about improving your overall performance and understanding of the game. All equipment is provided. These sessions focus on you getting as much court time as possible; all abilities are welcome as there is always a chance to learn and develop a love for basketball despite your previous experiences. Playing a social sport is a great pathway to making new friends while learning a new sport.
Sessions are £2.50 or free if you have a SHU-Active or Team Hallam membership. Either turn up on the day, or book in advance with our online booking system, or at SHU-Active reception. See our social sport timetable to find a session. For any questions, don't hesitate to email us.
Come to our table at the sports fair on the 20th at the SHU students union. Trials will take place on Sunday 24th 15:00 - 17:00 pm.
