The Men's Rugby Union Club is a popular club at Hallam, with the 1st and 2nd teams both competing in BUCS leagues with a 3rd Team playing regular development games. As a club we look to provide additional opportunities for developing players, including involvement in O2 touch rugby sessions amongst other things, held on weekly basis. The level of play is competitive, and the teams are selected through playing trials held at the start of the year. The club benefit from a high standard of coaching, and also work with regional RFU staff to ensure all abilities can be catered for at Hallam. Weekly pitch training is run at Sheffield Hallam Sports Park on Bawtry Road on weekday evenings, and strength and conditioning training is run at Collegiate gym. Matches are typically on a Wednesday afternoon.
Regular Touch Rugby sessions are run at Collegiate Campus for beginners and casual players, looking to improve their ball handling skills, keep fit and have fun. Opportunities available for students to develop coaching skills through leading the sessions as a Student Sport Activator volunteer.
