The Athletics Club train and compete in multiple disciplines, including sprinting, middle and long distance events, field events and cross-country running. The club is open to all abilities, from people who just want to keep fit and have fun, to performance athletes competing at a national level.
The club have a partnership with City of Sheffield Athletics Club which brings in a range of experienced coaching staff who deliver focussed training programmes across all the varied athletics disciplines. Training times and venues vary across the week depending on which athletics events you want to train for, the main venues are indoors at the EIS Track, and outdoors at the Woodburn Road Athletics Stadium.
There are a variety of trips throughout the year, to national indoor and outdoor BUCS competitions as well as BUCS cross country. The club also host The Steel Cup in Sheffield, their own annual inter-university indoor athletics competition as well as competing in local opens and cross country leagues

The club is open to everyone and does not hold trials, although EIS Indoor Track passes are limited and only available to those committed to training and competing regularly. Selection for individual events and competitions is based on PB times and other factors.
