The Climbing Club is open to all abilities, from complete beginners to climbers training and competing at an elite level. The club run indoor and outdoor activities and trips in a range of climbing disciplines, including bouldering, top roping and lead / sport climbing. Sheffield is one of the best climbing cities in the UK. With access to world class climbing facilities, and brilliantly placed for climbing in the Peak District, there is plenty of opportunity for both new and experienced climbers alike. The club hold weekly indoor sessions at The Climbing Works and The Foundry climbing centre throughout winter. They also run regular trips out to surrounding crags, and also trips abroad including a sport climbing trip to Spain and a bouldering trip to Fontaine Bleu in France.
The club has a Performance Squad of climbers who receive coaching and conditioning at The Climbing Works, and compete in inter-university BUCS competitions as well as other national and international events.
The club hold a selection event on September 29th to determine which climbers will form part of the Performance Squad.
We also compete at NUBS (Northern University Bouldering Series) which is open to all members of the club.
To get involved simply register your interest here (link to online sign-up sheet) or at Sports Fair in September. Someone from the club will then give you details about how to get involved with their indoor training sessions, or how to sign up for trials for the Performance Squad.
