Team Hallam Athlete and City of Sheffield Swim Squad swimmer, Isobel Grant reflects on her weekend of racing at the English National Championships.
Going into the meet the team has a short rest week where we didnt fully taper but backed away on some of the tougher sessions so we would not feel as tired when the weekend came around. On the first day of racing i had my main event of the 200 Butterfly, i had a solid heat where i was just off of my seasons best time and booked myself a place in the final in 4th position. Going into the final i felt strong and confident and managed to come away with a new lifetime best and finished 3rd overall.
After my success the night before on saturday i was in a great place and really looking forward to the rest of my swims. On the saturday i had the 100 butterfly where i made it into the final in 8th place before going into the final and achieving another lifetime bet also finishing 6th.
Finally on the last day i had the 50 butterfly which was more of a fun day for me but i still made it into the B final where i finished first and again got another lifetime best.
Overall i had a very successful weekend and was very happy with all of my swims and i'm looking forward to seeing what the rest of the season holds.
