Candidate for the position of Equality & Diversity Officer

JORDAN MOTLIB

  • I am applying for the role of Equality and Diversity Officer because I am keen to see every member of this huge club given an equal opportunity to be a valued Hallam Ranger.
  • If voted in, I would ensure the excellent work this club has undertaken in previous years is continued.
  • Equality and diversity have never been so important in today’s world, and as the biggest and best club at Hallam, we need to continue to show our support for those that need it.
  • Rugby is a massively diverse sport, which is exactly why this role is significant, but also why, as a club, we have a duty to set an example to the rest of the university.
  • Having seen the effects of a lack of equality and diversity on and off the rugby pitch away from university, not only in the UK but abroad as well, I feel very equipped in terms of experience to know how to deal with sensitive issues and situations.
  • Having grown up in an area with lots of diversity and being part of a family who are partly an ethnic minority, I believe my suitability for this role is unmatched.
  • My opinion of what this role needs is not someone who will lecture on what is right and wrong. Instead, I believe the equality and diversity officer should encourage looseness whilst not overstepping the line.
  • GET BINNED NOT BANNED.
