Contract Agreement                     

Athlete Requirements                                                                                                                                                                                 

All athletes are required to meet the following commitments;

  • Attendance at an induction
  • Attendance at Needs Analysis session with Performance Athlete Support Officer (PASO) within the first 4 weeks of the programme and 2 review sessions during the year, 1 per semester.
  • Complete the online overview document, and to keep updated
  • Fully engage in Strength & Conditioning, attend a screening/induction within the first 4 weeks of the programme, a review session at the end of each semester and attend S&C training a minimum of twice a week unless otherwise agreed.
  • Attend Performance Athlete Screening and Testing Sessions in Semester 1 and Semester 2.
  • Fully engage in Physiotherapy support as appropriate, attend a screening/induction for both within the first 4 weeks of the programme, Monthly Catch-ups and a review session each semester.
  • Full Engagement in Sports Psychology, Nutrition & Lifestyle support, as highlighted and agreed with PASO.
  • Maintain academic attainment study level as agreed in the learning contract.
  • Play a full and active role in the appropriate Team Hallam club wherever possible, including attending training / matches / events and coaching assistance etc.
  • Represent the University in BUCS and other major competitions wherever possible.
  • Be available for selection for representative student sport through BUCS (Home Nations, EUSA's, WUGS).
  • Fully and regularly inform Team Hallam on sporting progress, including results of competitions and events, national selection, press releases, photographs or other achievements (via online form).
  • Be available for Press, PR opportunities and Open Days which the University may wish you to undertake which are appropriate to the scheme.
  • Be willing for personal contact details to be forwarded to associated departments of the University. 
  • Acknowledge the support of SHU at all times of contact with the media and in any press release.
  • Provide two reviews, (Semester 1 & Semester 2) for Team Hallam, covering performance, events and progress for the website or in alternative promotional material.
  • Agree that information can be shared between the multidisciplinary team unless specifically stated.

    Terms and Conditions                                                                                                                                                                                  

  • A successful Performance Athlete Support Programme award does not guarantee a successful application for subsequent years of study.

     

  • All Performance Squad athletes should have the contract explained in full before any induction and written details are supplied if requested. A parent or other individual may be involved to ensure that the athlete is fully understanding of the contract in to which he/she is entering. 

     

  • The University reserves the right to withdraw any athlete from the Performance Athlete Support Programme at any time should any of the stated requirements not be met, or the Athlete’s circumstances change or he/she ceases to be a student at Sheffield Hallam University.

     

  • Decisions to remove athletes from the programme are to be authorised by the Team Sheffield Hallam board working to the guidelines of engagement set out. Details will be submitted to the athlete in writing no more than 14 days after the decision. One appeal process will be permitted with the subsequent decision being final and given in writing no more than 14 days afterwards.

     

  • Services will be removed from athletes immediately upon the authorisation of removal from the Performance Athlete Support Programme.

     

  • Performance Squad athletes are under no obligation to remain as a scholar and are permitted to retire from the scheme at any time. Written notification should be supplied within 14 days.

     

  • Payment of fees, accommodation and other services will take place in 2 equal instalments (1 per semester) unless otherwise agreed. Athletes who remove themselves or who are removed from the scheme but remain studying at the University will be required to commence payment of fees, accommodation and any other services that they wish to continue.     

     

  • All Athletes commit to performing within the rules of the WADA Code and UK Anti-Doping as approved by the National Governing Bodies regarding performance enhancing drugs. All athletes should be aware that as an athlete within a NGB anti-doping testing can commence at any time.

     

  • Performance Squad athletes are expected to represent the University and their NGB to the highest standard of behaviour at all times. Failure to maintain these standards may result in athletes being removed from the scheme.

     

  • The University reserves the right to request refunds for services if in the opinion of the Team Sheffield Hallam board, if an athlete has knowingly secured an award using false documentation or statements, or has entered the programme without the full intention of meeting the listed commitments.

     

  • Performance Athlete Support Programme will not provide duplicate services to athletes already provided for by TASS / WCP agreements.

I understand that I may be removed from the scheme should their terms not be met. I further understand that I am free to leave the scheme of my own accord at any time.
